Every caregiver has moments they wish had gone differently. They may yell, lose patience, or say something too harsh. You can remind families that strong relationships don't require perfection. They grow through repair.

A few practical tips worth sharing in the visit:

Name it. "I yelled earlier, and that may have felt scary."

Own it. "I was frustrated, but I wish I had stayed calm."

Reconnect. A hug, gentle voice, or sitting close can help a child feel safe again.

Keep it short. Young children don't need a long explanation. A few warm, clear words are enough.

Try again. "Let me say that again more calmly."

Repair helps children learn that hard moments don't have to break connection. They can become a way back to it.
